The California School Boards Association (CSBA) seeks applicants for the leadership position of the new Information Technology, Resources and Services department.
CSBA is a collaborative group of virtually all of the state’s more than 1,000 school districts and county offices of education. It brings together school governing boards and their districts and county offices on behalf of California’s children. CSBA is a member-driven association that supports the governance team — school board members, superintendents and senior administrative staff — in its complex leadership role. CSBA develops, communicates and advocates the perspective of California school districts and county offices of education.
The Principal Director will provide technology vision and leadership in the development and implementation of the Association’s various information resources and services needs. The Principal Director will lead in planning and implementing information systems to support business operations and achieve more effective and cost beneficial uses of resources. The successful candidate must possess the technical skills and leadership experience to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Salary: $95,000.00 annual salary plus benefits.

Position Description
Provides strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the information and technology systems for the Association. Provides programming needs for web, software and database applications. Facilitates communication among staff, management, vendors, and other technology resources within the organization. Responsible for the management of multiple information and communications systems and projects, including data, imaging, web and office automation.
Through direct reports oversees office computer operations, including local area networks and wide-area networks; designs, implements, and evaluates the systems that support end users in the productive use of computer hardware and software; develops and implements user-training education programs; and oversees and evaluates system security and back up procedures.
Directly supervises the Senior Programmer, Network Administrator, Database Administrator and other supervisory positions to be identified as the department structure is developed based on the needs of the Association.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Expert level programming in XHTML , CSS, ASP.NET, C# or VB.NET, SQL, Visual Basic 6.0, XML or XSL languages. Experience working with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or 2008, Visual SourceSafe, SQL Server 2005, Dreamweaver, Photoshop.

Special Conditions of Employment
Minimum of seven years of programming experience with increasing responsibilities for managing information resources and services and leading staff in realization of goals and objectives. Demonstrated experience in both shared and outsourced solutions, as well as support of in-house information and communication systems in a multi-site client-server environment. Experience in systems design and development, including requirements analysis, feasibility studies, software design, programming, pilot testing, evaluation and operational management.
Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field or equivalent experience and education. A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field is highly desirable.
Must possess current driver’s license, proof of insurance and access to reliable transportation for use on Association business; ability and willingness to travel when necessary.
