CSBA leadership includes a Delegate Assembly, Board of Directors and Executive Committee

Delegate Assembly

The Delegate Assembly is made up of approximately 270+ Delegates who are elected by local board members in 21 geographic regions throughout the state. Some geographic regions have been further divided into subregions. Ex-officio members of the Delegate Assembly with all privileges of membership include members of CSBA’s Board of Directors, past presidents of CSBA and the immediate past president of the California County Boards of Education (CCBE). Delegates serve two-year terms. They meet at least twice a year to conduct business, and may also meet with the other Delegates and the Director within their region. Furthermore, it is expected that they will participate in important CSBA events and that they will devote time to maintaining contact with local boards.

Board of Directors

  • The 32-member Board consists of the following people:
  • 21 Directors, one from each of CSBA’s geographic regions;
  • Two Directors representing county boards (the current president of the California County Boards of Education and a county board member elected at large);
  • Four Directors-at-Large (one each representing Black, Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander and American Indian constituencies);
  • One Director-at-Large (any California board member who also serves as a National School Boards Association officer or Director); and
  • Four CSBA officers (President, President-elect, Vice President and Immediate Past President)

Executive Committee

The committee is composed of the President, President-elect, Vice President, Immediate Past President and Executive Director (ex officio). The officers are elected by the delegates at the Delegate Assembly meeting just prior to the CSBA Annual Education Conference and serve for one year in each position.
