CSBA recognizes that good health is essential if children are to take full advantage of the educational services being offered.  Although the primary responsibility of public schools is to educate students, CSBA realizes that children's ability to learn can be significantly impacted by the conditions that confront them in their daily lives.  These conditions, often physical and mental health issues, impact student's school attendance, their ability to pay attention in class, control their anger and restrain self-destructive impulses. We know that healthy children are better able to learn and contribute to a healthy society. We also know, districts that focus resources in new and more effective ways to address student physical health, emotional health and social health will be better able to reach school and district educational goals.
