Make the investment, get results.

CSBA’s Education Legal Alliance is a consortium of school districts, county offices of education and ROC/Ps that voluntarily join together to create a powerful force to pursue and defend a broad spectrum of statewide public education interests in the courts and before state agencies. The Alliance has a history of both saving and gaining millions of dollars for schools, while protecting the governance role of the board.

When the Alliance enters a case, everyone wins. Take a look at some recently filed cases and how the Alliance fights for and alongside you:

  • School finance litigation – the Alliance filed a lawsuit to declare the state’s education finance system unconstitutional.
  • AB 3632 mental health services—a lawsuit against the governor’s veto of funding
  • State mandates—lawsuits challenging numerous state gimmicks to defer and avoid reimbursement
  • Collective bargaining—amicus briefs against union expansion of bargaining rights
  • 8th grade Algebra I requirement—won a challenge against the State Board of Education

Fix school finance.

  • CSBA’s Education Legal Alliance, in collaboration with the Association of California School Administrators and the California State PTA, has taken a bold step and filed a historic lawsuit against the State of California.

       • This lawsuit declares the current education finance system UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
       • Students should NOT continue to suffer from California’s irrational school finance system.

Why did we file the lawsuit? Because the State's finance system:

  • Is clearly broken.
  • Makes no connection between the allocation of funds and actual student needs.
  • Denies districts the ability to provide students their right to a high-quality education.

The Education Legal Alliance needs your continued support. Join or renew your membership with the Alliance today so we can continue to make the most of your investment – taking on issues that impact all students and schools.
