CSBA's Governmental Relations department takes the unique perspective of the governance team to those who pass laws that impact schools. The association's legislative advocates analyze all bills and resolutions that impact K-12 public education and coordinate with CSBA's Legislative Committee to formulate the association's legislative positions on the most critical legislative proposals. Following the direction set by the Legislative Committee, CSBA's legislative advocates represent the interests of its statewide members to the Legislature, governor, Congress, White House officials and other regulatory agencies. Governmental relations staff also assist board members to be more effective advocates themselves, coordinating their efforts to advocate on issues of concern to their communities via Advocacy Interactive.
