Inaugural School Wellness Conference to Tackle Childhood Obesity, Wellness Policies
WEST SACRAMENTO – More than 1,200 school leaders from California and across the nation will attend the inaugural School Wellness Conference on October 1-2 at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, in Anaheim, CA. The conference will bring together school leaders and health experts to improve and enhance student health and wellness policies by discussing school nutrition and physical education components in a student’s education. The California School Boards Association, along with the California Department of Education, the California Department of Public Health and a host of other partners are presenting the conference.
Conference sessions will focus on key student health and wellness issues including: best practices and resources; statewide success stories and model program workshops; healthy nutrition environments and quality physical education programs; sample district policies that promote health on school campuses; and strategies to help schools succeed in implementing and evaluating their local school wellness policies. In total, there will be 120 sessions over the two-day conference.
