CSBA to Participate in Town Hall Discussion on Declining Enrollment

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA – The California School Boards Association will participate in a town hall meeting organized by Assemblymember Paul Krekorian (D-43) on October 29 at the Glendale Unified School District. The meeting will address the growing trend of declining enrollment in schools both in the Los Angeles region and throughout California. CSBA Delegate and Glendale Unified School District Board Member Mary Boger will represent CSBA at the meeting.

“Approximately half of all California school districts are experiencing declining enrollment,” said Scott P. Plotkin, CSBA executive director. “Our schools need stable and adequate funding to ensure these districts are able to maintain the necessary services so student achievement is not negatively impacted.”

CSBA is working with Assemblymember Krekorian and the California Declining Enrollment Coalition, which includes School Services of California and approximately 30 school districts across California, to develop the most effective statewide policy approaches to remedy this growing problem.
