“Cream of the Crop” Receive Prestigious CSBA Golden Bell Awards

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Diego, CAThe California School Boards Association today announced the recipients of the prestigious Golden Bell Awards at its Annual Education Conference at the San Diego Convention Center. The awards program, now in its 28th year, promotes excellence in education by recognizing outstanding programs in school districts and county offices of education throughout California. Sixty districts/county offices received the award and more than 200 applied.

“Golden Bell Awards reflect the depth and breadth of education programs necessary to address students’ changing needs,” said Dr. Kathy Kinley, CSBA president. “Our school leaders are making a difference every day in the lives of our students, and the recipients of this award have demonstrated exactly that.”

This awards program contributes to the development and evaluation of curriculum, instruction and support services by: seeking out and recognizing sustainable, innovative or exemplary programs which have been developed and successfully implemented by California teachers and administrators; recognizing and supporting educators who invest extra energy and time to make a demonstrated difference for students; promoting models which have made a difference for students; and focusing on the commitment to ensure that the needs of all students are met. The annual awards program recognizes exemplary programs in 16 major categories.

The award is only given to CSBA members. Award applicants are judged by on-site validators who are appointed by the CSBA Board of Directors to visit and validate the site that is considered for the award. School districts and county offices may submit up to three entries.
