CSBA forms timely partnership with School Innovations & Advocacy to help schools recover costs from mandated programs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SACRAMENTO, CA – After a thorough review process, the California School Boards Association has entered into a partnership with School Innovations & Advocacy to begin offering mandated cost reimbursement claiming services to school districts and county offices of education across the state. The partnership is timely with the approaching February 15 filing deadline for 2006-07 annual claims, and schools will soon need to sign a new mandate contract.

The two education groups will team up immediately to promote MandatePrep, a full-service, mandate preparation service that boasts a rigorous check and balance system and customized approaches to each district or county office.  In addition, they will offer SiteServ, a specific mandate program to directly assist local school sites.

“This partnership comes at a critical time especially in light of the state budget crisis,” said Scott P. Plotkin, executive director, California School Boards Association.  “Governance teams are being forced to provide services when funds are not always available. Comprehensive mandate service means much more than simply getting fattened claims filed quickly.  It means filing efficient and effective claims – while staying in compliance with the ever-changing laws, and building confidence about the claim’s ability to stand up to the audit process and safeguard school dollars.”

“We know CSBA recognizes the importance of the mandate claims process and we know they do not enter into any partnership without thorough consideration. We’re glad to combine their advanced perspectives and our compliance expertise for the benefit of schools across the state. We’re looking forward to facing a tough budget year with some serious solutions schools can use,” stated Jeff Williams, chief executive officer, School Innovations & Advocacy.

MandatePrep and SiteServ feature a strong team approach including hands-on client service, training and planning, data tracking and reporting, quality assurance and compliance checks, test claim monitoring, liaison with the state controller’s office and the Commission on State Madates, an audit support system and live help desk.

School Innovations & Advocacy is a leader in getting California schools reimbursed for mandated activities. Their scope of service includes expertise in legislative matters, categorical programs, attendance accounting, special education, and customized consulting while ensuring compliance with state requirements.
