FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 18, 2008) – Patti Kelly joined the California School Boards Association (CSBA) June 9 as the organization’s public information officer (PIO), announced CSBA Executive Director Scott P. Plotkin.

As PIO, Kelly is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing media relations strategies and public information campaigns to support CSBA’s legislative and policy agendas.   She will also be involved in educating the public about the role of school boards and the importance of local school governance.

“Patti’s extensive background in media relations and strategic communications complements the objectives of CSBA,” said Plotkin. “She is a valuable asset to our team.”

“CSBA is a respected leader and powerful voice at the forefront of public education policy and school governance issues,” said Kelly. “I look forward to communicating the association’s efforts on behalf of California’s K-12 school districts and county offices of education.”

Prior to joining CSBA, Kelly served as senior external communication consultant for corporate relations for Allstate Insurance Company.  In that capacity she functioned as a statewide media spokesperson, and developed public affairs communication strategies for the company.

Previously, Kelly was an associate for APCO Worldwide in Sacramento, where she provided strategic counsel and legislative support for various public and private sector clients, including associations and non-profit organizations. She graduated with honors from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications.
