Glendale Unified School District Board Member Mary W. Boger Elected CSBA Vice President
San Diego, Calif. – Glendale Unified School District Board Member Mary W. Boger was elected vice president of the California School Boards Association Thursday at the association’s Delegate Assembly meeting in San Diego. Boger has served as a CSBA delegate since 2007, as a Government Relations Chair and as an active participant in many CSBA professional development workshops and trainings. She is also a graduate of CSBA’s Masters in Governance program.
“Great challenges lie ahead, but I believe great challenges come with great opportunities,” said Boger. “Throughout my time as a CSBA officer, I plan to carry the strong message to our state leaders that education must be a priority. To best serve our students, we as school board members must continue our strong community leadership and advocacy for adequate school funding.”
Boger had volunteered for the Glendale Unified School District for more than 20 years when she was appointed to the board in 2002. She has represented her district on the Five Star Education Coalition and is a past president of Glendale Healthy Kids. She has served the Glendale Unified School District in numerous capacities, including terms on the District Advisory Bond Committee, president of the Glendale Council PTA and member of the Strategic Planning Committee for Glendale Schools.
“Mary is a passionate and dedicated leader, and CSBA will benefit greatly from her experience,” said CSBA President Frank Pugh. “I look forward to working with her in the years ahead.”
Boger resides in Glendale with her husband, Donald. All six of their children graduated from Glendale High School, and they currently have two grandchildren and a grand nephew who attend Glendale schools.
Boger will be joined on the CSBA Executive Committee in 2010 by CSBA President Frank Pugh, President-elect Martha Fluor and Immediate Past President, Paula S. Campbell. The officers are elected by the delegates at the Delegate Assembly meeting just prior to the CSBA Annual Education Conference.
