San Francisco Unified School District Board Member Jill Wynns Elected CSBA President-elect
San Francisco, Calif. – San Francisco Unified School District Board Member Jill Wynns was elected president-elect of the California School Boards Association December 2 at the association’s Delegate Assembly meeting in San Francisco. Wynns has served as a CSBA regional director for nine years, was the president of the Association of California Urban School Districts, president of the San Francisco Board of Education and is an active participant in many CSBA professional development workshops and trainings.
“As a member of CSBA’s executive committee, I plan to help guide the association in becoming an even stronger advocate for the elected and appointed school boards throughout California on which our democracy’s foundation, the public school system, is dependent,” said Wynns.
Wynns has served on her local school board for 18 years – the longest serving board member in her district. She has also served on the district's budget and business services committee; curriculum and program committee; rules, policy and legislation committee; public education enrichment fund committee; and quality education investment fund parcel tax committee.
“Jill is a passionate and dedicated leader, and CSBA will benefit greatly from her experience,” said CSBA President Martha Fluor. “I look forward to working with her in the years ahead.”
Wynns resides in San Francisco with her husband George. They have three children and two grandchildren.
She will be joined on the CSBA Executive Committee in 2010 by CSBA President Martha Fluor, Vice President Cindy Marks and Immediate Past President Frank Pugh. The officers are elected by the delegates at the Delegate Assembly meeting just prior to the CSBA Annual Education Conference.
