More than 1,200 people took advantage of the early bird registration period that ended July 31 for CSBA’s Annual Education Conference and Trade Show at the Moscone Center in San Francisco Nov. 30-Dec. 2. Regular conference registration is now open, and registration for housing reopens Aug. 21.
Lynne Faulks, manager of legislative relations for the California Teachers Association, has been added to the speakers’ list for this year’s State of the State symposium at the conference’s final general session on Saturday, Dec. 2. Faulks will join CSBA Executive Director Scott P. Plotkin, Assistant Executive Director, Governmental Relations Rick Pratt and Rick Simpson, deputy chief of staff to Speaker of the Assembly Fabian Núñez in a candid look at the 2007 state and federal funding forecast, plus a look back at 2006.
Other general session speakers include San Diego-based artist and lecturer Erik Wahl on Thursday, Nov. 30, and former astronaut Dr. Sally K. Ride on Friday, Dec. 1. A special mini-conference with education speaker, writer, consultant and electronic games designer Marc Prensky is also slated for Dec. 1, and luncheon speakers and other attractions continue to be added to the program, which will highlight CSBA’s 75th anniversary.
CSBA’s first-ever Executive Assistants Program on Thursday, Nov. 30, will give those vital contributors to board functions a chance to hone their skills at a special rate of just $250. Recurring events that are conference staples include the Golden Bell awards luncheon, workshops, table talks and a number of pre-conference activities.
