Published: July 1, 2007
When this month ends, so does your chance to save on registration for CSBA’s Annual Education Conference and Trade Show, which returns to San Diego
Nov. 29–Dec. 1. The rate goes up $30, to $455, on August 1.
The range of attractions continues to grow, with dynamic speakers, a variety of breakout sessions spotlighting key education and school governance issues, and other events. “It’s very exciting to have so many new and different things happening at annual conference this year,” said Kristy Bird Trouchon, education conference coordinator.
Most of the action will take place at the San Diego Convention Center. However, there will also be a 5K Fun and Healthy Run/Walk along the beautiful San Diego waterfront early on the conference’s second day, and for the first time in recent years, the conference will feature a tour of a local school—San Dieguito Academy, a California Distinguished School that’s part of the San Dieguito Union High School District.
LegiSchool, an innovative program that engages students in public policy and state governance matters, will be the topic of the inaugural Juanita Haugen Memorial Lecture on Civic Education, named for the past president and longtime director of CSBA who devoted much of her life to promoting students’ civic engagement.
Another attraction will be an assortment of robots that were designed and built by students in Poway Unified School District in Northern San Diego County. They’ll be on display on the trade show floor throughout the conference, with workshop demonstrations slated on the conference’s final day.
