Special education session to precede Annual Conference

A Nov. 28 symposium on special education headlines a menu of activities scheduled in advance of CSBA’s Annual Education Conference and Trade Show, which will take place Nov. 29-Dec. 1 at the San Diego Convention Center.
This full-day symposium will highlight current research and best practices on what schools can do to achieve better academic outcomes for all students, with a particular focus on students with special needs. Keynote speaker Alice Parker, California’s former assistant superintendent of public instruction and director of special education, will discuss classification of special needs students and other topics.

Other preconference activities include a legal symposium for experienced board members and an orientation for new trustees. Registration for preconference events is $195 through Nov. 8, rising to $205. The fee includes materials, lunch and refreshments.
