Annual Conference on track for record turnout; regular housing opens Aug. 20
Published: August 26, 2008
Following a record response in June to Early Bird housing availability for CSBA’s Annual Education Conference and Trade Show, regular housing registration will open at 8 a.m. Aug. 20. The Annual Conference will be held at the San Diego Convention Center Dec. 4-6.
A limited number of rooms will be available at the headquarters hotel, the Manchester Grand Hyatt, at the special conference rate of $208 per night plus applicable fees and taxes—the same rate that’s offered for the nearby Westin Horton Plaza San Diego. The San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina, also nearby, will have rooms available for $234.
Trends point to another record-breaking year for both conference attendance and trade show exhibitors, according to organizers; many exhibitors will make their first Annual Conference appearance.
School site visit
This year's Annual Conference school site visit will take participants to the San Pasqual Academy, where many San Diego County foster youths work toward their high school diplomas, prepare for college or work and develop crucial independent living skills. The first-in-the-nation residential education campus for foster youth was originally conceived in 1998.
Academy students and county officials will be on hand to talk and answer questions during the Dec. 5 tour, which will be from 7:30-11:30 a.m., with transportation provided. A $50 advance registration fee is required. Anyone who has already registered for the Annual Conference and wants to take part in the school site visit should contact the CSBA registrar at register@csba.org.
