New online CSBA newsletter links learning, wellness

CSBA has launched a new online newsletter—Link to Learning—to build awareness of the critical relationship between children’s health and student learning and to communicate CSBA’s comprehensive, coordinated efforts on school health and student wellness. The newsletter will be published three times a year: November, March and July.

“The Link to Learning newsletter provides an excellent vehicle to connect with our members around the work we are doing to increase awareness about the importance of good health to learning. Link to Learning also provides us with the ability to quickly and easily highlight the resources, tools and training available to assist governance teams create and sustain healthy school environments,” said Martin Gonzalez, assistant executive director, Governance and Policy Services.

A primary goal of the newsletter is to provide expanded and ongoing support to school boards, district administrators, community members and other key stakeholders.

The November issue has six articles, a calendar of upcoming events and resource links. Topics covered include the roles and responsibilities of school boards regarding student health and wellness, an update on the School Health Advisory Committee established earlier this year to support CSBA’s health policy positions and services, updates on related activities and more.

Link to Learning is distributed vie e-mail. Issues are also posted on CSBA’s Web site.
