Annual Conference sign-ups to open June 16
Early bird conference registration opens at 8 a.m. Monday, June 16, for CSBA’s 2008 Annual Education Conference and Trade Show, which will run Dec. 4-6 at the San Diego Convention Center.
Those who register early get a significant discount on conference fees and have the best chance to reserve rooms at the headquarters hotel. Once registered for the conference online, early birds will receive an automatic e-mail confirmation with a special number that allows them to access the housing Web site.
Early bird housing registration opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, for reservations at the conference headquarters hotel, the Manchester Grand Hyatt, at a special daily rate of $208 for single or double occupancy. Fees for reserved rooms cannot be refunded once a reservation has been made.
Regular housing registration opens Monday, Aug. 18. At that time, conference goers will be able to reserve rooms at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina ($234 daily rate), or at the Westin Horton Plaza or Manchester Grand Hyatt ($208 per day).
CSBA conference planners are encouraging participants to register early to take advantage of early bird discounts. Attractions run the gamut—from stimulating keynote speakers to hundreds of workshops, clinics and table talks on a wide range of critical issues. The Annual Conference also is an unsurpassed opportunity to discuss the issues that local governance teams share with their counterparts from school districts and county offices of education throughout the state.
Although this year’s conference offerings are the most extensive ever, registration fees have not increased from last year, and conference planners negotiated to ensure that housing costs at the Manchester Grand Hyatt headquarters hotel would remain the same as last year. CSBA recognizes that this year’s conference comes at a critical time when money is tight and districts and county offices face difficult budget decisions. The Annual Conference is designed to give governance teams the tools they need to survive in this harsh fiscal climate.
