The Position

The Governing Board of the Grant Elementary School District is seeking a Superintendent/Principal who is willing to join them to continue providing outstanding educational opportunities for all children. We are looking for a leader to help us continue our tradition of excellence and take us to the next level. The successful candidate must have the ability to establish an atmosphere of trust to unify all segments of the school district and community.

The Community

The Grant Elementary School District consists of a single school located in the small community of Centerville, four miles southwest of Redding in Shasta County. The area offers an incredible variety of activities for all ages. There are miles of trails, abundant parks and open space, and great attractions like Turtle Bay Exploration Park, The Sundial bridge, Big League Dreams Sports Park and nearby Lake Shasta—The houseboat capitol of the world. Also closeby is Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, a beautiful boating, fishing, camping and swimming area.

The District

Grant Elementary School District serves approximately 700 preschool through eighth grade students and employs 80 certificated and classified professionals. The annual budget is approximately 5 million dollars.

Grant enjoys a reputation of high student achievement and has exceeded the 800 API benchmark every year since 1999. The school’s 2006 API was 890. This is the highest score in the county and places Grant in the top 5 percent of all California public schools.

The Centerville area is regarded as a very desirable place to live as many professional families choose to live within the Grant attendance area. A strong partnership exists between the school and home. Parents actively support classroom, extracurricular and sports program activities.

Grant staff and community are dedicated to providing the highest-quality educational programs for their students. Staff continually seeks professional growth opportunities to improve their knowledge and skills in curricular areas, teaching/learning methods and educational technology.

Available to students to supplement the teaching and learning phase of the District’s total educational program are a number of enrichment programs. The district utilizes both new and traditional teaching methods while holding to values that enable us to have a caring school community.
