Governance Consulting Services provides a range of workshops to support your district. Since every district's needs are unique, the training for each governance team is different. Consultants work closely with the board and superintendent to prepare a workshop specific to the districts goals and interests.
Workshops Descriptions
When is a good time to schedule a workshop?
- After a new trustee joins the board
- After board officers have changed
- Before a superintendent retires or leaves, to ensure the team is working well as a search for a new executive begins
- When a new superintendent is hired
- On a regular basis, such as once a year
- Whenever tensions begin to build (or as a preventive tool, before they begin to build)
- When a particular topic needs addressing – evaluation of Superintendent
- After adopting the Professional Governance Standards
Schedule in advance
CSBA recommends 4-6 week lead time, because quality board workshops take time to organize and design. First, the board must select a date and time that works for very busy trustees, superintendents and consultants. After CSBA staff work with the district to execute a contract, the consultant will interview each member of the governance team, and then use that feedback to design a workshop to serve the unique needs of the district and prepare the materials.
