The program: Professional development tailored just for executive assistants. Executive assistants play a critical role at the district or county office, and now’s your chance to enhance your performance to meet the needs of your superintendent, board and students.

Workshop agenda 

Workshop features:

 Forge an effective partnership with your board and superintendent

  • Learn to support the needs of your team from handling individual board member requests for information or action to addressing the needs, concerns and complaints of the community to understanding study sessions and more
  • Understand the complex roles: superintendent, board president, board member and staff
  • Understand how different work styles impact communication with members of your team
  • Manage board meeting details – managing public input at board meetings; guiding informal reports at board meetings; setting and coordinating meeting lengths

The Brown Act for executive assistants – as it pertains to you

  • Learn what you need to know about the agenda: development, posting, distribution, contents and restrictions
  • Be in the know about the meeting: open meeting laws, the Brown Act, Education Code requirements, your board bylaws
  • Coordinate your closed sessions:  when to have them, when to not and who gets to decide
