CSBA recognizes that all school districts and county offices of education have competing priorities and are under more pressure than ever to justify line items in their budgets. However, the support and services we provide to our members are even more important during difficult fiscal times like these.

CSBA’s range of critical services includes but is not limited to:

  • Governmental Relations — Lobbying on all state budget issues and on other critical education issues at the state and federal levels, including school facilities, standards and assessment, accountability, special education, teacher quality, charter school accountability, career technical education, Elementary and Secondary Education Act reauthorization and more.
  • Communications — Media advocacy and public engagement, sample resolutions, sample letters to the editor and op-eds, Web site, California School News (weekly email and monthly printed), California Schools magazine, social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) and more.
  • Policy Analysis and Research — Advisories and analysis on the Open Enrollment and Parent Empowerment Acts, cyberbullying, student health and wellness, charter schools, foster youth, preschool and more.
  • Policy Services/Governance Technology Services — GAMUT™ Online, Manual Maintenance, AgendaOnline and more.
  • Education Legal Alliance — School finance litigation, AB 3632 mental health services, state mandate reimbursement, collective bargaining, 8th grade Algebra I requirement and more.
  • Leadership Development — Legislative Action Conference, Back-to-School Webcast, Annual Education Conference and Trade Show, Forecast Webcast, New and First-Term Board Member Institute, Brown Act Workshop, Board President’s Workshop, Masters in Governance, Governance Consulting Services, Professional Governance Standards and more.
  • Financial and District Services — Cash Reserve (TRANs), Certificates of Participation, Government Purchasing Alliance, Pract-Cal Medicaid claiming services, Special Education Review, GASB 45 Solutions, Telecom and Utility Cost Recovery, Solar Schools and more.

CSBA provides the broadest range of advocacy, information and support services for districts and COEs of any other statewide organization. And we are the only organization representing the school board/governance perspective in improving and promoting public education.

Membership in CSBA gives board members and administrators access to the resources that help them fulfill their complex governance and leadership roles and ensure high levels of student achievement. The benefits far outweigh the annual cost of membership.

CSBA services that benefit all members are provided as part of the membership package. Other services, that meet specific needs and benefit specific members, are offered at an additional fee.
