Golden Bell Award Winners Honored at CSBA Annual Education Conference

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Diego, Calif. – The California School Boards Association will present its prestigious Golden Bell Award to school districts and county offices of education from across the state at its Annual Education Conference and Trade Show in San Diego. The awards ceremony will take place on December 5 from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m. at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina.

CSBA’s Golden Bell Awards program, now in its 30th year, promotes excellence in education by recognizing outstanding programs in school districts and county offices of education.  Forty-eight districts and counties offices earned the award this year out of more than 200 applicants.
“Golden Bell Awards reflect the depth and breadth of education programs necessary to address students’ changing needs,” said CSBA President Paula S. Campbell.  “Our school leaders are making a difference every day in the lives of our students, and the recipients of this award have demonstrated exactly that.”

This awards program contributes to the development and evaluation of curriculum, instruction and support services by: seeking out and recognizing sustainable, innovative or exemplary programs which have been developed and successfully implemented by California teachers and administrators; recognizing and supporting educators who invest extra energy and time to make a demonstrated difference for students; promoting models which have made a difference for students; and focusing on the commitment to ensure that the needs of all students are met.  The Golden Bell Awards recognize exemplary programs in 19 major categories, including:

• Curriculum
• English Language Acquisition
• Accountability/Assessment
• Early Childhood Education
• Professional Development and Teacher Recruitment/Retention
• Bridging the Achievement Gap
• Technology
• Partnerships and Collaboratives
• Sustainable, Renewable, Energy and Resource Efficient Programs

Award applicants are judged by on-site valuators who are appointed by the CSBA Board of Directors to visit and validate the site that is considered for potential recipients.
