CSBA ‘Forecast’ to be a Jan. 18 ‘Webcast’ to 10 sites around the state
Published: December 1, 2006
In a move to save members both time and money, CSBA’s annual Forecast conference will be presented Jan. 18 live via a 2½-hour “Webcast” for the first time. Members will be able to view the event at any of 10 county offices of education across the state (see map).
Participants will still be able to ask questions of the speakers featured at the 2007 Forecast, which includes an overview of the economic and political landscape following the recent elections and passage of the statewide school facilities bond. In addition to CSBA Executive Director Scott P. Plotkin and Rick Pratt, CSBA’s assistant executive director for governmental relations, this year’s presenters will once again include Christopher Thornberg, senior economist at the Anderson School of Management at UCLA.
“Our members rely on us to provide them the economic forecast and analysis of the governor’s proposed state budget,” said Andrea Johnson, program consultant in Continuing Education. “The Webcast format allows us to reach more people, in more locations, as quickly as possible.”
In addition to the added convenience of being able to view the Webcast in numerous locations throughout the state, the cost has been lowered from $170 last year to just $79 in 2007. The new format will also pack more information into less than half the time taken up by previous Forecasts. The Webcast begins at 1 p.m. and concludes at 3:30 p.m.
