MIG online module saves money, time
Published: December 8, 2008
As part of CSBA’s ongoing expansion of time- and money-saving e-opportunities for its members, the Masters in Governance program’s human resources module will be available online shortly. Superintendents and school board members who purchase it will have 24-hour access to the content for a six-month period.
The module consists of 12 lessons ranging in length from 12 to 31 minutes. It’s MiG's first complete online course. Modules on school financing and collective bargaining will be released in 2009.
“This format will allow our members to gain governance knowledge without the expense of travel, and they can work at their own pace at their office or home computers,” said Stephanie Goodlett, senior program consultant at CSBA’s Governance Institute.
The module’s high-quality video guides superintendents and board members through detailed information on the roles and responsibilities of the school board in dealing with a variety of human resource issues. Self-assessment quizzes appear at the end of each lesson so participants can gauge how much they have learned. Help is a click away by going to the “Support” tab that accesses a knowledge base or allows users to ask a question via e-mail.
For more information, contact Goodlett at sgoodlett@csba.org, or call 800-266-3382 and ask for extension 3286.
