January is School Board Recognition Month
Published: December 1, 2009
During January, appreciative thanks go out to all school board members for their hard work and dedication to the schoolchildren of California.
Initiated by the National School Boards Association in 1995, School Board Recognition Month is a time for school districts, county offices of education and others to recognize the contributions of local school board members.
CSBA has prepared an online toolkit to help staff, superintendents or community members recognize local school board members. It includes a list of ideas for activities, a sample proclamation that can be adopted by a city council or other local government agency, a sample press release to announce activities to local media, a sample article for the district or county office newsletter, and a sample public service announcement.
