Call for nominations for Delegate Assembly

Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, is the deadline to submit nominations and candidate biographical sketch forms for prospective members and incumbent members of CSBA’s Delegate Assembly. A list of delegates in each CSBA region whose terms are expiring is on CSBA’s website (www.csba.org) under the “About CSBA” tab.

Local boards in CSBA’s 21 regions will participate in the Delegate Assembly elections between Feb. 1 and March 15. Those elected will serve two-year terms beginning April 1, 2012, and ending March 31, 2014. There are two required Delegate Assembly meetings each year, one in May in Sacramento and one preceding CSBA’s Annual Education Conference and Trade Show in late November or early December in San Diego or San Francisco.

Delegates set the general educational policy direction and fulfill a critical governance role within the association through the adoption of the Policy Platform and other policy statements as needed. They act as liaisons between CSBA and local board members in their regions.

Any CSBA member board is eligible to nominate board members within its geographical region or subregion. Each board may nominate as many individuals as it chooses. The process begins with submission of an official nomination form, which is available on CSBA’s website.

All nominees must submit a candidate’s biographical sketch form; an optional one-page, one-sided, résumé may also be submitted, but a résumé cannot be substituted for the candidate biographical sketch form. All nomination materials must be postmarked no later than Jan. 9. Faxes are also acceptable.

All nomination and candidate biographical sketch forms and information related to the election process will be available only on CSBA’s website.
