Getting the most from CSBA’s policy services

Board members and district staff have several opportunities in the coming months to learn more about CSBA’s policy and governance technology services. Roadmap to Policy Updates, the regional workshop series providing information and demonstrations of CSBA’s policy services, is offering three presentations in Southern California—Sept. 18 in Anaheim, Sept. 19 in Whittier and Oct. 4 in San Diego. Find out more and register for one of the 2-½ hour complimentary presentations at www.csba.org/Events.aspx.

The “road show,” as it’s often called, “demonstrates and explains how to get the most out of CSBA’s policy services,” said Martin Gonzalez, CSBA’s assistant executive director for Member Services. Director of Governance Technology Dianna Parker and Policy Consultant Cindy Akin travel the state to demonstrate how CSBA’s GAMUT Online and Manual Maintenance services help school district and county office of education staff keep policy manuals up-to-date and give online access to local policies. Free 30-day trials of GAMUT Online are also available at http://bit.ly/MldsGC.

A new version of GAMUT’s technology is expected to be unveiled at CSBA’s Annual Education Conference and Trade Show in San Francisco Nov. 29-Dec. 1; AEC will also have workshops and exhibits showing the economic and efficiency benefits of governance technology.

Gonzalez also touted the benefits of AgendaOnline, CSBA’s electronic board agenda service. The Web-based application eases the development of board meeting agendas, supporting documents and minutes, and makes them accessible online. A return-on-investment study last year found that 97 percent of AgendaOnline subscribers consider the service a “good” or “very good” investment that yields savings in staff time and the cost of materials, mailing and other expenses. On average, savings exceed $500 per meeting. Find out more at http://bit.ly/gb7g4c.
