Districts are mandated by law to adopt over 90 policies, and many others are necessary to ensure legal compliance. Due to the passage of hundreds of new laws every year, district policies can quickly become out-of-date. CSBA’s Policy Audit Program can help you make sure that your district’s policies accurately reflect current state and federal law.

The program

Do you know if your district policy manual is up-to-date? Do you have the time to find out? CSBA’s policy consultants do. Through the Policy Audit Program, districts can have more than 150 district policies, regulations and bylaws reviewed by a professional consultant to assess the state of their current manual.

CSBA’s process to analyze and prioritize production of the district policy manual includes the following steps:

  • A CSBA consultant will analyze the district’s policy manual to determine if the mandated policies and administrative regulations reflect current law. 
  • The consultant will analyze selected district policies that have been identified by CSBA as containing important legal requirements. 
  • The consultant will generate a report of findings after a review of more than 150 district policies, regulations, and bylaws.
  • This report will help the district identify priority areas for policy updating and give an indication as to the overall status of the district’s policy manual.
