CSBA’s 2011–12 Policy Platform reflects Delegate Assembly updates

CSBA’s 2011–12 Policy Platform is now posted on the association’s website, reflecting updates and amendments approved by the Delegate Assembly in December. The Policy Platform Committee met throughout 2010 to review proposals and developed analyses for all suggested amendments that were received from CSBA members. Ultimately, the Delegate Assembly approved more than a dozen changes to the platform, including updates or refinements of existing positions and new positions reflecting changing conditions or new considerations.

“The Policy Platform is the association’s primary policy framework for implementing CSBA’s mission to set the agenda for the public schools and students of California. Every two years, it is revised to help guide CSBA’s policy and political leadership activities.

Cyberbullying, charter schools, teacher effectiveness and teacher placement are just a few of the issues included as new and revised amendments in the updated document,” CSBA President Martha Fluor explained in an e-mail to the membership last month.

“In previous years, CSBA has provided hard copies of the platform to all CSBA members; however, in our continuing efforts to go green and reduce costs we have chosen to post the document on the CSBA website as the primary means of distribution. We hope you find the newly designed, printer-friendly version easy to use.”

A limited number of printed copies are available. To obtain one, contact Lisa Burlison, administrative coordinator for CSBA’s Policy Analysis Department, by phone at 800-266-3382, extension 3357, or via e-mail at lburlison@csba.org.
