CSBA names principal director of Communications

On May 1, CSBA welcomed Laurie Weidner as the new principal director of communications, responsible for overseeing the functions of the Communications Department and supporting the Governmental Relations Department with public affairs strategies.  Her passion is advocating for students and public education.  For more than 20 years, Weidner has served as a school public relations and public affairs professional with extensive experience across the entire public education spectrum.

“Student success begins with good policy and governance team leadership,” Weidner said.  “That’s why I’m so deeply honored to be a part of the CSBA team. CSBA’s leadership on key issues and policy areas support a strong public education system and prioritize students,” she added.

Weidner holds an international certification in public relations, a bachelor’s in communications with an emphasis in public relations, and a master’s in political science with an emphasis in public policy.  She also has earned nearly 40 state and national industry awards, including two National Gold Medallion awards (career-best honors) from the National School Public Relations Association.
