Cyberattacks are on the rise, striking school districts across the country, disabling operations and compromising sensitive student and staff data. Assemblymember Diane Papan (D-San Mateo) authored Assembly Bill 1023 to provide TK-12 schools with additional resources to defend against and respond to cyberattacks. Since current statute does not require the California Cybersecurity Integration Center (Cal-CSIC) to support schools in the way it does other government agencies, AB 1023 is an essential measure to enhance school safety and data privacy.
