Education Workforce Housing (EWH) Bootcamp (March 6, 2026 - IN PERSON)

Description

Description

CSBA’s Education Workforce Housing Bootcamp is a one-day, in-person training designed for school board members, superintendents, and senior administrators interested in workforce housing but who have not yet taken formal steps to explore a project. This bootcamp will guide local education agencies (LEAs) through the initial stages of exploration.

Participants will walk through the seven phases of the EWH Development Framework and complete a series of exercises to assess what a workforce housing development might look like in their community. They will leave the bootcamp with a completed early assessment workbook and specific next steps on how to continue exploring the concept.

Why You Should Take This Training

Staff recruitment and retention challenges are increasing as housing costs continue to rise, leading many LEAs to consider educator housing on existing property as a long-term strategic solution. This bootcamp provides practical guidance for teams and individuals interested in exploring this possibility in their communities. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of the development process, learn how to avoid common pitfalls, and build momentum for deeper exploration. You will leave with a clear understanding of how to assess the potential of workforce housing in your community and a six-month roadmap to assess whether the time is right to formally pursue a development.

How It Relates to Your Role

As a board member, superintendent, or senior administrator, your leadership is essential for initiating and guiding an Education Workforce Housing initiative. From setting your vision and priorities to aligning resources and partnerships, governance teams play the central role in developing long-term strategic solutions to workforce challenges. This training offers fundamental knowledge and practical tools to help assess the viability of workforce housing in your LEA and to determine whether, when, and how to proceed with the next steps.
