Description
The Role of the School Board in Achieving Equity Through Strategic Budgeting – Virtual
Overview
CSBA’s newest financial workshop is designed to create awareness and deepen board trustees’ understanding of their role in advancing equity principles in making strategic and budgeting decisions to ensure success for every student. Attendees will learn the importance of connecting strategic outcomes and resource allocation to ensure equity. As a prerequisite, attendees will increase their knowledge base of the overall budget, learn how better to assess the health of the district’s budget, and better understand the relationship between the budget and the LCAP.
The Program
How closely aligned are your strategic planning and budget development processes? Does the district budget include resources to address the most glaring academic and organizational issues? The series will focus on the mindset and strategies to support school districts in planning for a more equitable allocation of resources based on prioritization and goal setting. The session will provide you with an equity-focused framework for strategic decision-making.
The board and superintendent must work closely to provide governance leadership to ensure student success. This can be achieved if there is a system of alignment in place between the strategic outcomes and resource allocation.
