Course 1: Foundations of Effective Governance and Setting Direction

Course 1, Module 1: Foundations of Effective Governance

Strengthening leadership. Building trust. Driving student success.

 

This interactive workshop will help County Board Members and Superintendents build strong, effective governance teams.

  • Explore the structure and role of County Offices of Education
  • Clarify board and superintendent responsibilities
  • Strengthen trust and collaboration with county partners and school districts
  • Learn how to lead and advocate in times of change
  • Apply the Effective Governance System to build strong partnerships

 

Perfect for new and experienced leaders alike, this session offers clear strategies to govern with confidence and impact.

 

Course 1, Module 2: Setting Direction

Strategic planning that drives student success.

 

This session will help County Board Members understand their critical role in setting direction through the LCAP process for county-operated schools.

  • Explore how strategic planning goes beyond mission and vision
  • Clarify the board’s role in alignment between LCAP, goals, and superintendent collaboration
  • Strengthen stakeholder engagement strategies with county partners and communities

 

Participants will leave with practical tools to guide direction, build alignment, and engage stakeholders in support of student achievement.

Cancellations or transfers made within five (5) business days of the event are not eligible for a refund, as food, beverage, and/or materials have already been ordered for you. No refunds will be issued for no-shows. CSBA encourages substitutions from within the same district or county office.
