EWH: Deep Dive Workshop A (VIRTUAL)

Description

Description

CSBA’s Education Workforce Housing (EWH) Deep Dive Workshop A provides members with a deep understanding of all EWH models and a guide for assessing demand for this solution. This workshop is designed for school board members, superintendents and senior administrators who want to explore how EWH could work in their community.

Across two virtual sessions, participants walk through the seven phases of the EWH Development Framework and examine the structure, pros and cons of the most common models. Then they work with industry experts to understand how to assess employee demand for workforce housing and the level of support across their community.

Why attend

As high housing costs continue to push educators out of communities across California and impact student achievement, EWH is increasingly seen as a strategic approach to improving recruitment, retention and long-term fiscal sustainability. EWH Deep Dive Workshop A helps you build the knowledge and skills needed to begin this work. This training provides in-depth, expert-led exploration of EWH that would otherwise cost thousands of dollars and months of staff time.

How it relates to your role

Board member, superintendent and senior administration leadership is essential for initiating and guiding an EWH initiative. From setting vision and priorities to aligning resources and partnerships, governance teams play the central role in developing long-term strategic solutions to workforce challenges.

What participants receive

Participants leave the workshop with:

  • An overview of the full EWH process, from exploration to lease-up
  • A clear understanding of available EWH development models
  • A demand-assessment toolkit to begin analyzing housing needs among staff
  • Case studies and examples from California LEAs
  • A curated packet of resources to support next-step conversations at your LEA

Participants who attend all three deep dive workshops will receive a Certificate of Completion from CSBA.

Learning objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe the major development models available to LEAs and the key considerations for each
  • Conduct an introductory assessment of housing demand using staff data, survey results and local market indicators
  • Identify early readiness factors that contribute to successful EWH projects
