CSBA brings BuyBoard purchasing cooperative to California schools

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BuyBoard allows districts to streamline purchasing and save money

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Sept. 13, 2023) – The California School Boards Association (CSBA) is bringing streamlined purchasing, lower administrative costs and savings to California school districts and county offices of education by entering into an agreement with BuyBoard, a national purchasing cooperative.

Since 1998, BuyBoard has been providing local educational agencies (LEAs) with increased purchasing power, lower administrative costs and compliance with legal requirements. BuyBoard vendors have been awarded contracts for products and services through a competitive procurement process, thereby giving members the opportunity for bulk discounts, combined with the ease of online shopping.

“CSBA is excited to partner with BuyBoard and provide our members access to one of the country’s largest marketplaces focused specifically on elementary and secondary schools,” CSBA CEO & Executive Director Vernon M. Billy said. “BuyBoard allows local educational agencies to save resources and money by consolidating a nearly limitless supply of goods and services under one roof and offering discounts through group purchasing power. Every time a California school district uses BuyBoard, they will achieve time and cost efficiencies that can be redirected toward student support and services.”

Some products available through BuyBoard include:

  • Classroom teaching aid supplies and equipment
  • Floor covering and sports surfaces
  • Custodial supplies and equipment
  • Parks and recreation supplies and equipment, field lighting products
  • Computers, software, and technology supplies and equipment
  • Furniture
  • Athletic supplies and equipment
  • Library books, supplies and equipment

BuyBoard helps LEAs meet their procurement goals, save money through discounts secured by collective purchasing power and save time by eliminating the formal Request for Proposals process.

“In addition to offering a quality service to school districts in California, this agreement solidifies the relationship between our states’ associations,” said Brian Bolinger, Associate Executive Director at Texas Association of School Boards, which oversees BuyBoard. “As two of the largest states in the U.S., it is important that we build bridges that ultimately make public education much stronger for our students.”
