Susan Markarian
Director, Region 10, Pacific Union ESD
Susan Markarian, a board member in the Pacific Union Elementary School District in Fresno County, is the Region 10 Director of the California School Boards Association, representing Fresno, Kings, Mariposa, and Madera counties. She has been serving on the Board of Directors since December 2002.
Markarian has served on the board of trustees for the Pacific Union Elementary School District since 1985. She has been a member of Fresno County Trustee Association Executive Board since 1999 and was a Fresno Junior League educational advisor.
She is active in CSBA, serving on the Delegate Assembly since 1990. She has served on many committees. She earned her CSBA Masters in Boardsmanship in 1990 and completed the Masters in Governance Program in 2007. She attended the Great Valley Leadership Institute in 2007, which is a leadership training program by the Harvard School of Business.
Markarian and husband have three children and grandchildren. They are third generation family farmers in the Central Valley.
