Election to the Executive Committee
According to CSBA’s Bylaws (Article V, Section 3), a Nominating Committee interviews and nominates candidates for the offices of vice president and president-elect. The Nominating Committee consists of members of the Delegate Assembly. The committee receives the nominations of candidates and screens candidates based on the qualifications outlined in the Executive Committees roles and responsibilities.
The election process for the Executive Committee takes place between the spring and fall of each year. Members are notified of when the election process begins.
Election to the Board of Directors
The Delegate Assembly elects regional directors to serve a two-year term beginning immediately upon the close of the Annual Education Conference and Trade Show in December. In even-number years, regional directors from even-number regions as well as the directors-at-large Asian Pacific Islander and Hispanic are elected. In odd numbered years, regional directors from odd-numbered regions as well as the directors-at-large, African American, American Indian and County are elected.
The nominations for regional director must be made by a delegate from the respective region and submitted in writing to the CSBA president. The nominee must submit a completed candidate form which will be included in the Delegate Assembly agenda exactly as submitted.
The nominations for directors-at-large must be made by a CSBA member board and the nominee must be a board member from a CSBA member district or county office of education. Please note: Only a CSBA member county board of education may submit nominations for the director-at-large, county seat, and in writing to the CSBA president. The nominees must submit two letters of recommendation and a candidate form which will be included in the Delegate Assembly agenda exactly as submitted.

Election to the Delegate Assembly
A board member must be formally nominated by a board in the region or subregion and may be nominated by his or her own district or county office. The nomination is an action that is taken in a public board meeting and requires a majority vote. A board may nominate as many individuals as it wishes. Nominees must sign a confirmation that they are willing to serve. The election process for the Delegate Assembly takes place between the fall and spring of each year. Members are notified of when the election process begins.
