Engage CSBA: Join the conversation online

Members-only section of our website offers member interaction

CSBA members now have an easy way to communicate with each other using Engage CSBA—a members-only area of www.csba.org that connects school board members, superintendents, executive assistants and other CSBA members.

At their May meeting in Sacramento, members of CSBA’s Delegate Assembly got an introduction to the features of the social networking site from Assistant Executive Director for Communications and Information Technology Devin Crosby.

“This is a great area for members of the Delegate Assembly to participate in ongoing conversations about the issues that affect you as delegates and members of your local board,” he said in a message to delegates on the site.

“Great presentation Devin!” responded Region 16 Delegate Caryn Payzant, followed by Region 8 Director Sherri Reusche, who wrote: “Wonderful tool. Thanks for making it easier for us to communicate.”

As a social networking site, Engage offers various interactive features. Users may upload a photograph and add biographical information and links to their other social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter. Once members have completed their Engage profiles, they may join various discussion groups, such as Grassroots Advocacy Network, Board Member Action Day, Executive Assistants, and others. The site allows users to contact an entire group or individual users in public or private messages.

All CSBA members—and only CSBA members—may access the site from the My CSBA area of www.csba.org. See a brief video tutorial on how to log in and use My CSBA and Engage CSBA on the sign-in page: www.csba.org/Account/signin.aspx.

CSBA developed the social networking site as part of its priorities to build a communications system for members that will support them in leading public opinion. Already, participants in this year’s Board Member Action Day received their background materials and meeting schedules through My CSBA. Conversations begun in person can continue online in Engage’s discussion groups.
