CSBA names senior Communications director

Suzanne Meraz recently joined CSBA as the senior director of Communications. She will be responsible for overseeing the functions of the Communications Department and developing strategic and result-oriented communications programs that successfully support association objectives.
Meraz has more than 15 years of experience in public relations, crisis communications and strategic planning. Most recently, Meraz led the public relations function at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, a $5 billion property and casualty specialty insurer. In addition, Meraz managed public relations at The Doctors Company and Hewitt Associates.
“Education has always been a passion of mine as a daughter of two teachers, married to a special education teacher and high school football coach, and a mother of two school-age children,” said Meraz. “I’m excited to join CSBA and welcome the opportunity to help CSBA advance the education and well-being of California’s students.”
Meraz holds a bachelor’s in communications from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, where she was captain of the Trojans woman’s basketball team for three years.
