Former teacher joins CSBA policy staff

Peter Wright is a new member of CSBA’s Policy and Programs Department. He focuses on Conditions of Children, one of the four pillars supporting the association’s Policy Platform.
Wright began his career as an elementary school teacher in rural North Carolina with Teach for America before returning to his native California for a fellowship in the Governor’s Office. For the last five years he served as director of Emergency Planning and Preparedness for the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, designing and implementing a security strategy for the state’s 112 community colleges.
Wright is pursuing a doctorate in political science at UC Santa Barbara, with an emphasis in education policy. He has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree from Occidental College in Los Angeles.
