Executive Search Service launched
CSBA partners with McPherson & Jacobson

By popular demand, CSBA has launched a new Executive Search Service in partnership with McPherson & Jacobson LLC, a company that has placed more than 500 superintendents and other officials in public and nonprofit organizations across the country since 1991.
Partnering with McPherson & Jacobson allows CSBA to offer its members an affordable and streamlined process to meet their executive hiring needs.
“Hiring the right executive to serve as superintendent is critical for any school district,” said CSBA Executive Director & CEO Vernon M. Billy. “Our partnership with McPherson & Jacobson provides districts with a new and effective resource for that purpose.”
The service provides CSBA members with help from California-based consultants who are experienced in the state’s education landscape and understand the needs of local districts. McPherson & Jacobson consultants will work with local boards and key stakeholder groups to implement a comprehensive hiring process that results in selection of the most qualified candidate.
“Our mission is to ensure the search for an executive results in quality leadership for education excellence,” said Thomas Jacobson, CEO of McPherson & Jacobson. “We are proud to say that almost 80 percent of the superintendents hired in the last five years by our clients are still in those positions.”
CSBA’s previous executive search service operated from 1991 to 2008, when it was discontinued as a standalone search service. Instead, the Governance Consulting Services Department increased its emphasis on services to help districts with board development and strengthening governance teams. But a 2011 CSBA survey of districts indicated that a majority would be interested in executive search services from CSBA if they were available.
